Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma from the department of English Literature. Mitchell started as reporter for TV and radio working in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976, she joined the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington, she was appointed general correspondent by NBC News a year later. She began to cover the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office within the year 1988. She was named the chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief foreign affairs correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell participated on the TV show Meet the Press and also hosted the show. She joined the panel during 1988's presidential debates that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her contribution to defend First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at The White House first for NBC News between 1981-1988, in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of notable stories, including the Iran-contra controversy and tax reform. She traveled with Ronald Reagan on numerous trips to world summits and reported extensively.
